Maple (Hard, Soft, Birdseye, Natural)
MAPLE – Acer saccharum
Origin: North America
Hard Maple sapwood is more commonly used than it’s Heartwood. Soft Maple’s reduced density generally means it’s easier to work with and machine than hard maple. Although the same species as typical hard, white Maple, Bird’s Eye is figured with swirls providing the distinctive “eyes.” It is light in color, from cream white to light brown, and is heavy, hard and very durable. The “eye” figures do present some challenges when working so, taking care will ensure a beautiful outcome. Fine woodworking, high-end furniture and pieces like mantle clocks, jewelry boxes.
Weight: 3.67 Lb/BDFT
Hardness: 1450
